The Holly and The Ivy

There are four large holly trees are on the property surrounding this old Victorian., all covered in brilliant berries. Solitary Towhees and Jays, along with groups of Juncos, Chickadees and Titmouse decorate their thorny branches. The windows look onto many old oaks and cedars between me and Deer Creek below.

English Ivy scrambles over the rock walls, much of it in berry this time of year.

A basket seen through the french doors holds portraits of my paternal grandfather in his World War I uniform and my grandmother, Beth Campbell, in her wedding dress.

Coppery corn cob ornaments suspended from an old chandelier, un-wired and repurposed as a candle holder in front of the bay window.

Looks like these two found a winter hideaway in the holiday tree.
